Stag Do Overseas

If you’re off on a stag do overseas, emergencies can be a nightmare. You want your stag do to be fun, and a stag do overseas should be just that. But should the worst happen, here’s our ‘Stag Do Overseas’ emergency guide:

#1 – LOST PASSPORT
If you get stranded overseas on your stag do because of a lost passport – DON’T PANIC! You can organise a replacement passport (at price) from the local UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office embassy, consulate or high commission of the country you are in. Just contact them and report it to the police (remembering to get incident reference number). Once you’ve completed the forms, they’ll cancel your passport and issue you with replacement travel documents to get you back home. Remember to take a photocopy of your passport with you (keep it separate) to speed things up at the embassy.

#2 – MEDICAL EMERGENCY
Accidents happen and are common on overseas stag dos. Get good a travel insurance policy with generous allowances for hospital treatment and make sure you pack your documents. If you’re on a stag do overseas in Europe, a free EHIC card entitles you to local public health care.

#3 – ARRESTED
You’re on a stag do and you’re overseas and you’re celebrating your last days of freedom. But keep a handle on your behaviour and don’t do anything stupid. You REALLY don’t want to end up in jail overseas on your stag do! If you do end up inside, contact the British Consul (it’s your right), giving them as much detail as possible. They will help any way they can. Remember, so be calm, co-operative, say sorry and grit your teeth.

#4 – LOST LUGGAGE
Lost luggage is a pain, especially at the start of your overseas stag do, but DON’T PANIC: most people find theirs and yours probably on the next flight, the wrong flight or back where you started. Report it to the lost luggage counter of your airline. If it’s simply delayed, they’ll probably deliver it to your hotel when it turns up. Most travel insurance will cover any cost. Just make sure you take valuables or essential medicines on the plane with you put tags on the cases so they can always be identified.
